This dance/drama can be performed or read with one principal female dancer/actor (Miriam), a second person or male-female duo (God) and as many non-speaking extras as you like to be the Sea of Reeds or the Israelites dancing. The musical portion composed by Laura and David Ash is scored for assembly participation with simple refrains as well as parts for a cantor, the sung parts for God (possibly the same person as the cantor), and keyboard accompaniment. Additional guitar chords are provided for when the assembly sings and for the final canticle. Refrains for the assembly may be reprinted free of charge if a copy has been purchased for each performer and musician.
The script closely follows that of "Part I: Miriam of the Dance" in Betsey Beckman's video The Dancing Word: Miriam and Mary with some minor differences.
