This latest album by Denise Pyles is an amazing collection of songs, psalms, and acclamations, a witness to her growth as a composer and liturgist. At times peppy, poignant, or provocative, the results are always prayerful, from the title track's marveling at protons and planets to the energetic Spanish-language song "Tejedores de la Vida" (Weavers of Life). With instrumental and choral arrangements by famed liturgical guitarist and composer Bobby Fisher and additional choral arrangements by Laura and David Ash, the collection gives the assembly refrains and melodies that are easy to sing while adding lush SATB harmonies for a choir. "Invocation/Come Great Spirit" was used during the opening rite of the 2000 LA Religious Education Congress. Sheet music for this collection will be available soon.
