"Come among us as wind and fire…" "As Wind and Fire" is a musical setting of the Prayer for a New Millennium, written by the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council of Seattle as part of its Vision Statement for 1995-2000. It eloquently petitions the Holy Spirit to renew our hearts, our directions, our families, our Church, and our relationship with God. Laura and David wrote this in the hope, that whether used in liturgy or in personal prayer, it would inspire people to be part of that renewal. The refrain can be sung in English, Spanish, or Latin and comes with SATB harmonies in Latin. The seven verses can be sung in either English or Spanish. This cassette single has "As Wind and Fire" in English with one Spanish verse on Side A (3:41) and four short musical variations on Side B: Come, Wind; Stormy Hearts; Healing the Land; and Spirit Jig (total 4:33). These could be used as background for a short four-part guided meditation asking listeners to invoke the Spirit, think of some personal problem or sin, know that God loves us and forgives us, and respond in praise in joy. |
